I started this blog in order to be able to post some of the cards I have crafted for Operation Write Home, an organization near and dear to my heart. Many of our parents and grandparents went to work in factories during the last couple of wars to support the country and troops. Things have changed, but I still like to feel like I might participate to support those who are fighting to preserve our freedom and way of life. Operation Write Home is the way I have found. You can find out more more about OWH by going to www.operationwritehome.org. I can tell you that this organization is filled with wonderful people and talented crafters.
Here are a couple of the cards I didn't forget to photograph:
I would love to have feedback!
Beautiful cards! And a beautiful cause. How did you do the butterflies? Shrink plastic? Vellum?

ky thanks - The butterflies are "peal offs". They are gold stickers that are stuck to vellum and then painted - usually with iridescent Twinkling H2Os (the first butterfly was done with Iridescent Gold). On the second butterfly I used Stickles glitter glue - which as we know is a real no no, but I carefully sealed it with a layer 3D Crystal Lacquer covering the entire butterfly. It works very nicely because there is enough depth in the pattern of the butterfly that it completely "fills in" leaving no possibility of the glitter coming off.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to Blog Land! I love your cards! Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLouise, these cards are gorgeous. Our warriors will be lucky to be able to pick some of these out! I love the colored iris and the sparkly butterfly.
ReplyDeleteTerrific cards! I love butterflies!
ReplyDeleteLove all your cards! I, too, send cards to Operation Write Home. I feel it is just one small thing I can do for our Troops. Check out my blog and you can see some of the cards I have sent. In fact most of the cards you will see on my blog will end up going to Operation Write Home. Thanks!
